Curling your hair with a straightener

Curling your hair with a straightener

Curling your hair with a straightener

Don’t know your way around a flat iron? No problem. Here’s our step by step process in a few easy stages. Or, cba to read through the below? Then head over to our insta for all your video tutorial needs.

It’s all in the technique and most importantly the tools you're using… you know all those girls on ‘the gram’ with pristine beach waves? Yep, they’re done with straighteners! Ready to jump on the bandwagon… let’s go!

  • Decide on the type of curl you want. Whether that be loose waves or big and bouncy, lets choose loose waves for today’s how to…

  • Choose your tool. Our hur.iron slant iron has been designed to give you a helping hand using the angled plates - perfect for that loose romantic wave or for all you newbies getting on the curling with a straightener hype.

  • Good prep starts in the shower. So, get that hair lathered up in shampoo, rinse and then focus your conditioner particularly on those ends for added hydration. Towel pat your hair dry to remove excess dampness, by using this method you will avoid making your hair frizzy.

  • Remember to add in your heat protection products before any heat is added, ensuring your hair is totally dry before styling with a straightener. All our hur.irons have 5 levels of heat ranging from 120-230 degrees, meaning you’re always in control. Select a heat best stuited to your hair type, style and condition. Keep in mind that thicker, curlier hair types can handle a higher heat, finer colour treated hair – we’d advise getting that temperature down. PS. our ceramic plates are no ordinary plates, the mineral infusion helps seal the hairs cuticle and locks in that moisture for shinier, smoother hair… just what we love and need!

  • Section your hair, this will make life so much easier for you. You want to work from the bottom half of your head and work up to the top half. Depending on the thickness of your hair will determine how bigger sections you take, if you’re after that sexy loose wave then start by taking 1-2 inches of hair at a time.

  • So we have sussed the right tool and right temperature for your hair, let’s begin creating some oomph to that mane. Pick up your first section and place the hur.iron slant near to the roots, clamp down and begin to pull the iron down the shaft of your hair and away from your face… at the point where you want the curl to begin start to rotate the iron and remember to point the tool on a downwards angle with the hair wrapped around it. For a tighter curl rotate the iron at a 180° degree angle, in addition the more horizontal you hold the irons, the tighter the curl will be. Repeat this process on each section of the hair, noting that both sides of your head the iron should be facing away from your face.

  • Now you’ve mastered those curls (and by the way, check you out… you did it!!) once the hair has cooled completely, start by breaking up the waves with a wide tooth comb or just use your fingers!

  • If you’re really going for beachy vibes then why not add in some salt spray for extra texture and movement.

Congrats! You’ve successfully curled your hair with the hur.iron.
